NUTRITION FOR GOOD HEALTH Fructans is the general term for any carbohydrate with fructose polymers. They are present in significant amounts in various edible fruits and vegetables , eg. asparagus, artichoke, garlic, leek onion, banana and chicory roots.. Fructans have a bifidogenic effect, in the sense they stimulate the growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli , while decreasing the concentrations of E.coli and Clostridia.
